Urban Wildlife: Forced to Forage. The Silent Cost of Habitat Loss in Our Concrete Ecosystems.

Urban ducks seek water. Our concrete footprint fragments habitats; we must integrate nature into city planning.
Two white ducks forage on a wet, paved surface at night, illuminated by artificial light. This scene illustrates the Loss of Biodiversity as urban expansion relentlessly fragments natural habitats. Wildlife, displaced by development, is pushed into marginal, often contaminated, urban zones. The solution lies in aggressive Green Infrastructure development. Cities must implement Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS) and create protected, biodiverse urban wetlands. This approach filters pollution and provides vital, safe foraging grounds, ensuring human progress and wildlife preservation coexist.
