SK Sung Siew Fertigation Garden : A Green Step to Ensure
Food Security and Tackle Climate Change.
The SK Sung Siew Fertigation Garden is a green initiative that helps pupils understand the importance of food security and action against climate change. Through the fertigation method, crops such as Kulai Chili and Bird’s Eye Chili can grow efficiently using less water and fertilizer, thereby reducing soil pollution and carbon emissions. This effort also encourages self-grown food to lessen dependence on external sources affected by climate changes. Solutions that can be implemented include expanding the fertigation system in schools, recycling rainwater for irrigation and raising awareness about sustainable farming practices.
